Joseph Kirby was born and raised in Warren County, Ohio, went to Franklin High School in Franklin, and graduated from Miami University. Following college, he attended Chase Law School at Northern Kentucky University. Prior to, and during law school, Joe spent nine years as a multi-line claims adjuster handling thousands of claims, many of which involved automobile accidents. Upon graduation from law school, Joe joined his father and brother in the general practice of law in Springboro. Within six months of practicing law, he was appointed as a part-time Magistrate in the Warren County Juvenile Court. In 2005, he gave up his magistrate position and was appointed the Acting Judge of Warren County Court, Area II. In February of 2006, he was appointed Judge of this same court by Governor Taft. Later that same year he ran unopposed in a general election to a six-year term. Since this court is one of the few remaining part-time courts in Ohio, Joe is allowed to maintain his practice of law. He is the managing partner in the law firm of Kirby, Thomas, Brandenburg & D’Amico, L.P.A. In December 2008, Joe honorably retired from the United States Air Force Reserves, JAG Corps, at the rank of Major. Bar Admissions
